Bessette makes the big time
Matt Bessette (22-7), a veteran of Bellator and Reality Fighting, will compete on the national stage this Saturday.
Bessette, who previously fought as a lightweight and is currently the CES featherweight champion, will battle Enrique Banzola (14-3-1) in a featherweight Bout at UFC 220 on
January 19.
Viewers will be able to stream the bout online as part of the preliminary card.
Bessette's previous UFC exposure came during July 11 when he appeared on the premiere episode of Dana White's Tuesday ought Contender Series, which was streamed online by UFC Fight Pass. Kurt Holobaugh (17-4) defeated Bessette at 2:00 by TKO -- the UFC overturned the defeat and declared it a no-contest, according to information provided online by the organization (Bessette broke one of his hands earlier in the fight).
Bessette previously stated in a conversation with the site that he was considering a career in law enforcement. This was before he announced on Facebook that the UFC contacted him, however.
