Bantamweight title fight tops
Reality Fighting on Jan. 4
By Brian Woodman Jr.

A bantamweight title fight between Joe Cushman (10-4) and Joey Gomez (2-0) will headline Reality Fighting’s next event.
The Marlborough-based MMA organization, which traditionally presents a post-New Year’s Day event at Mohegan Sun, will hold it on Jan. 4. It has released details for four professional fights on the card but has not yet released details on the other bouts.
Parker Porter (5-4) of Southington will return to the organization during a heavyweight bout, although as of this writing his opponent has not yet been announced. Porter, who lost to Josh Diekman during Bellator 98 on Sept. 7 following a first-round TKO, lost Reality Fighting’s heavyweight belt to UFC veteran Gabriel Gonzaga in 2011 (Gonzaga, who submitted Porter in the third round with a triangle choke, left the organization without losing the belt).
Another bantamweight, Johnny Lopez (0-1) will compete that evening. Reality Fighting has not yet announced who he will fight.
There will also be a featherweight bout between Joe Boxer in his professional debut and Evan Scott (0-1).
Other details will be released as they become available.
(Editor’s note: all fighter records in this story with the exception of Porter’s record were provided by Reality Fighting).
